QIODA Membership

Sailors need to be a financial member of their State Association to participate in Optimist events - Racing, Coaching, State and National Championships.

State Membership includes membership of the National and International Optimist Associations.

Parents of the Optimist members will automatically become members of the Optimist Association and are eligible to vote at State and National General Meetings. 

Membership of QIODA offers a range of benefits. These include:

• Access to regular updates from QIODA addressing forthcoming events, tips and hints to improve skills, and regatta reviews.
• Preparation and provision of specialist coaching and training materials to your club
• Eligibility to participate in QIODA led Optimist training programs

• Eligibility to compete in Optimist State Championships and Optimist National Championships

Membership fees are applied to assist QIODA fund the following:

• Develop Optimist training programs for the benefit of all Queensland Optimist sailors
• Deliver training program materials to clubs and provide assistance to club coaches in evolving their Optimist programs
• Subsidise additional coaches and on water support for selected major regattas where such coaching or support may not be provided by a member’s club
• Meeting the costs associated with conducting the State Championships including the provision of trophies and prizes
• Administer the affairs of the Association including compliance fees, insurance, website maintenance and other administrative costs
   

QIODA aims to bolster funds through securing sponsorship. Our aim is to maintain reserves sufficient to aid in the ongoing development of the class in Queensland. Much of the hard work undertaken to create the opportunities provided by QIODA is performed by a hard working committee who generously donate their time.

The membership year operates from October 1 to September 30.

Current Fees

$80 per member Open and Intermediate Fleets (inclusive of first child/sailor) - Click here to renew or join as a new member.
